Here let me just wipe this three inch layer of dust off this journal and....*ssswhip!* We're back in business!
So- since my last update I've started teaching at the art gallery I work at! It's a small group of kids who are interested in comics and manga and I'm teaching them the basics of the art forms- anatomy, proportions, concepting, designing, characterization, inking. I never thought I would be teaching but it's a pretty rewarding experience and I get to talk about my passion and help others learn so it's a win-win! Plus they're good kids, not the bitey-stabby-scary type which I've heard horror stories about in the teaching world. >.> I feel for teachers. Give them a hug next time you see your favorite teacher. They do a lot for the world.
Oh! And I've entered into the How To Train Your Dragon 2 T-Shirt design contest at WeLoveFine! You can vote for me there until September 9th, it only takes 15 seconds to sign up and vote (proving that you are human and not a fake generated vote). Thanks everyone, I hope you'll support me in the contest!
Check it out here! My entry is Ice and Fire ---> contest.welovefine.com/vote.ph…
Unfortunately for those of you who I see at Gencon I will not have a table there this year. I will be attending as a well, attendee for the first time in 10 years. The anime artist alley is not there this year, due to changes in management, and I sadly have no idea if it will ever return. Honestly last year was the best year in profits I'd ever had, I nearly tripled my average profit which tells me a few things.
1. I need to get a table in the big artist alley in the dealer's hall.
2. Holy cow, my art is collectable!!
3. Anime is still very much alive and a hot market, despite the ever-present nay sayers and anti-anime critics.
Will anyone be going this year?? I'd love to meet up and hang out to see you wonderful peeps. I'll be there on Saturday!
Thanks again everyone!
